Hey all, sorry I've been gone for what seems like forever....I'm gonna try to be on here more frequently!

Me, totally not paying attention to what he said- "As soon as we got in the car, the smell hit my nostrils....DOG FOOD!"

Long time no blog!

Just wanted to let everyone know that I'm still here! My old laptop quit working a few weeks ago, but I got a new netbook yesterday so now all is great again! :D

I'll do a real update with pictures and everything soon, but I start classes again tomorrow so I'll wait until I actually have something interesting to show and tell!

Ahh, it feels good to sit down...I worked 9-5 today. Now I have 2 days off!

I'm dealing with allergies at the moment....my nose is all stuffed up. Boo!

I went with Kaity to Fort Madison again this past Sunday. We painted the closet in her classroom BRIGHT GREEN! It was called Mantis Green, but I've taken to calling it Kermit the Frog Green + Nickelodeon Slime Green. What do you think?

Walking on a dream

Last night I went out with Kaity and Lisa for karaoke and it was hilarious. Don't worry, I didn't sing anything! ;) But, I did do the Cupid Shuffle! I don't think I'll ever be tired of that dance, it reminds me of fun and crazy times with friends two summers ago!

In between listening dancing and listening to people sing horribly, we managed to get a few pictures!

Tik Tok

It's been a busy week for me so far!

On Sunday I went with Kaity and her friend Krystal down to Fort Madison. The plan was to clean Kaity's classroom. We ended up taking everything out of the supply closet and it was ridiculous how much stuff we found in there! Boxes and more boxes, all full of art supplies...I don't think she's going to have to buy much more.

By far the best thing we found was a set of famous art masks. I decided to try on 'The Scream' :D

Besides that I've been working the past few days...today I seriously had 10 returns in a row to take care of, it was crazy! Tomorrow is my day off though, so Justin and I are going to have a date day. :)

The past few days have been busy, busy!

First, a lovely picture to show you all:



It's a nutcracker doll....they're so creepy! Something about their teeth that go chomp chomp and the scary looks on their faces..uggh. My friend/coworker Cassie thinks it's hilarious and made me this drawing....lol not as creepy as the real thing though!

I went with Kaity late last week to a teaching interview at a school 3 hours away. The ride was hilarious, we had some really good discussions about art and I read us random articles out of an old Seventeen magazine while she drove.

We went shopping after the interview and both found some really cute clothes and accessories. Then while in the dressing room of Ragstock, Kaity got a call from the school she interviewed at....she got the job!! She's going to be an art teacher and I'm so happy for her :) We were jumping up and down outside the dressing room and shrieking like fools about the news...the people working at Ragstock probably thought we were crazy!

Yesterday my friend Jan and I hung out with my roomies for awhile. After having pizza we decided it was time for a random shopping trip. We bought parachute animals, bubbles, and water guns....yeah, we're cool.

After tossing the parachute animals down to the second floor of my building way too many times, we decided it would be fun (and wicked) of us to go attack Justin with our new water guns. We snuck up next to his car and called him. When he opened the door he saw us grinning back at him while spraying his car. Then we attacked him, until he stole our guns and got us back!

Today I've been having a lazy day of sorts. While catching up on my reading I noticed this little grasshopper spying on me from the window:

Found that at a vintage store...very simple and elegant...kinda the opposite of my usual jewelry, but I like it.

So is it weird that Justin and I are sitting here singing a song we saw/heard on It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia? Probably. But I like it.

I just discovered that I could have seen Tool, my favorite band ever, if only I had known they were on tour and only 4 hours away! Gah, I've been wanting to see them forever....now I have to wait at least another year!

In other news, one of our mice, Lady Gaga died last week. So now we only have Ke$ha. I think she misses her sister, but we put a stuffed monkey next to the cage so she won't be as lonely.

Both of my roommates are gone right now...it's kinda weird having the apartment to myself. I'm not technically alone most of the time though, because Justin is here a lot. Like right now :)

I'll try to be back tomorrow with a more interesting post...maybe an outfit picture or two...we shall see!

Just a quick post to let everyone know I'm still here!

I've been working and hanging out with Justin and my friends :)

Excitement such as:

* A night out for Kaity's birthday...one of my besties. She's pretty much my twin...we're both really artsy and random...the only difference is she has blue hair :D
We sang Bad Romance and danced around like idiots because it was karaoke night. SO MUCH FUN!

* Another night out, this time with Justin, a bunch of his friends, and my roomie April. We played pool for awhile (I beat Justin once, go me!) Then we came back to our apartment and played some beer pong and Wii Fit.

*Yesterday Justin and I went to this awesome vintage store, where I found two rock magazines from 1979. Score! Then we met up with our friend Cassie to eat popsicles and go to a playground. When we got there the merry-go-round was spinning by itself, there was nobody else there! It was so creepy that Justin took a video of it on his phone....lol.

Anywho, that's what I've been up to!

There's a big thunderstorm going on here right now, lightning is flashing like every 3 seconds....scary!

Yesterday Justin, April and I went to a museum and then wandered around downtown. The museum was fun, they had all kinds of animals and in the gift shop I found a really creepy but cool stuffed raven. I wanted him but he scared April so I'm not allowed to bring him into our apartment...haha. Downtown was ok, there wasn't much to see. We did find a coffeehouse though, so we took the time to get drinks!

Today Justin and I went to visit his parents for an early Father's Day celebration. His dad liked the movie and card we found for him. Now we're sitting on the couch watching Ice Age 2 with April....see?



Yeah, the glasses are making an appearance...I already took my contacts out for the night. :P

I got you babe

Sitting in my kitchen right now, got off work about 2 hours ago. I've been listening to old music with the roomies and watching the second Ninja Turtles movie since then...haha.

Last night Justin and I went out for a beer. I don't drink a lot, but I miss the atmosphere of being in a bar....it reminds me of fun nights out with friends the past few summers. :)

I have two days off now, tomorrow and Thursday! I'm excited....I need to think of something fun to do!!

Now for that long delayed post I promised awhile back!

Last weekend I went to a carnival with Cassie, a friend from work and had a blast! We rode the scrambler twice and the second time Cassie worked her charms on the ride operator and got us on for free :) Besides that, I ate lots of really unhealthy carnival food (funnel cake, corn dog, sno cone) but it was yummy.

So I bet you're wondering what movie I was referring to in my last post? Justin and I watched The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus and it was AWESOME! I'm not usually one for fantasy type movies, but this one blew me away. The storyline was entertaining, and the visual appearance of the movie was just breathtaking, especially the costumes. It was a little sad seeing Heath Ledger in it, knowing that he's no longer around, but he did a really excellent job in his scenes. I wish Johnny Depp had a larger role in it, but I can't have everything I want :)

By far though, my favorite person in the movie was Lily Cole. I didn't know she had gotten into acting at all, I've only seen her as a model. I was pleasantly surprised at what a good actress she is. Her costumes and makeup were some of the best I've seen in a movie, just look at this!

Meet the new pets!

Yesterday Justin and I adopted these two baby mice!



Lady Gaga is on the left, and on the right is Ke$ha :)

They are so fun to watch....they behave just like sisters! So far Gaga has jumped onto Ke$ha's back, they try to run in opposite directions on their wheel, and best of all? They sleep curled up next to each other....it's so adorable!

Back and forth through my mind behind a cigarette

So we're apparently in the midst of a heat wave here in Iowa, because it's 10:15pm and feels like 100 degrees in my apartment. I'm not going to complain though, because it's so much better than the wintery crap we were dealing with a few months ago.

I went to Iowa City with Justin on Thursday afternoon. We went to Ragstock and I spent over $100, but found so many cute things! I'm gonna have to post the pics tomorrow though, because the lighting in my room is horrible at night. But I promise you, my purchases were epic!

Alright, I'm gonna kick back and read for awhile....I worked all day and it's time to chill! :) Hope everyone is having a fun Saturday night!

I'm better!!! I seriously feel like a whole new person now that everything is under control. Amazing what a few days and some medicine can do!

Got my grades for this past semester and I'm happy with them! Bs in both of my German classes and 3D concepts. An F in art history but oh well, I'm already signed up to retake it in the fall because I had a feeling this would happen....me and history just don't mix. Aaaand I got an A- in swing dancing...go me!

Yesterday I woke up with one mission in mind: to go buy the clock I've had my eye on forever. So I did and now this stunner is hanging on my wall.



Yep, it's a cuckoo clock...sadly it doesn't actually make the sound, but I don't care! I think it's hilarious :)

I went thrifting and found this glass, which makes me question the sanity of the airline, but hey, it'll work nicely for rinsing paintbrushes!



Then I came across this book that appears to have been created especially for me, despite being written in the 1960s.



It's totally the book for me...I hate cleaning! I can even make the same expression as the girl on the cover!

Crummy health issues

(I apologize in advance if this isn't all that exciting to read...I need to vent....I promise I'll have a fun post soon!)

1. Eczema
For those who don't know, I have REALLY bad eczema on my hands. It sucks...a lot.

My fingers are extremely swollen and covered in thousands of little tiny blisters right now. If that's not bad enough, they also itch constantly and are all scaly and dry. It's a huge inconvenience at best...so on a bad day you can about imagine.

I've tried literally everything and even the dermatologist is running out of answers. I hate it. I miss my nice, normal-looking hands.

2. Mystery Symptoms

For a few months now I've been near exhausted every single day. I get enough sleep (9 hours or so) at night, but I'm also needing to take a 2-3 hour nap during the day, just to keep up enough energy to function. If I don't, I'm walking around in a fog the whole day.

I also have a ton of random bruises that keep showing up. Now granted, I'm not the most coordinated person ever, but I don't run into things THAT often. And this is like 10-15 small bruises at once, randomly scattered on my arms and legs. They literally just appear.

I have no idea what could be causing either of these symptoms. I've been tested for anemia and diabetes, so I know it's neither of those. I just wish I could get a solid answer...no doctor that I've been to has been able to give me one and it's really quite frustrating.

So it's summer now and I'm so happy about it! 3 months of no schoolwork :D

I worked all day today, and now I'm watching this ridiculous Toddlers & Tiaras show on TLC. I don't know why I'm watching it, because it sickens me to see such young girls covered in makeup, fake tan and hair extensions. I could totally go on but I don't feel like it.

Tomorrow Justin and I are going to visit my mom for Mother's Day. I'm not sure what we're doing yet, but it should be fun!

Look at the stars, look how they shine for you

Ugghh I'm so tired of working on this project for my 3D class! We have to make an exact replica of something out of cardboard. The problem is it has to be exactly the same size, dimensions, details...everything. We can't have any glue or tape showing, just cardboard. I'm making a bird and it's driving me crazy! I can't get the edges to look right...it's only about a third of the way done and it's due tomorrow morning. adkahf;ha;ldihflidfh!!! *end rant*

Anyway, besides that I'm having a good day. Went shopping with Justin and got two new tanks, a tee, a dress and two necklaces. Also a book about Lady Gaga that I just HAD to have!!



What's everyone else up to this week? Finals? Actual fun stuff?....lol I wish that's what I were doing. But after tomorrow, it's SUMMER for me! :D

That unpredictable thing called life

So I found out something interesting today. Evidently my most recent ex A and his girlfriend are having a baby. I almost fell over when I heard the news. Mainly because when he and I were dating, he was the most commitment-phobic person I'd ever known. I could be all bitter about this news since he's my ex, but I honestly hope they're happy and everything works out for the best.

Speaking of relationships, I'm so thankful I'm dating Justin, who is the sweetest guy I've ever known. I feel like the luckiest girl alive every day we're together <3

I made an amazing purchase after work today.....Mr. Sketch markers!!! You know, the markers that smell really good?! I can't be the only one who remembers them!

Yeah, so I'm shamelessly rockin out to the Spice Girls right now....they never fail to put me in a great mood! What's your happy music?

Had an ok day. Didn't go to class or work due to a stomach bug (blah) but I'm feeling much better. I spent most of the day in my bed, watching Unsolved Mysteries (yeah, yeah, I'm a geek!) and reading the newest issue of Glamour in between naps.

Gotta work in the morning, so I'll be heading to bed here shortly...but not before I finish my playlist of the earlier mentioned group's greatest hits! ;)

Breathe in me

I got the whole identity theft thing under control, so that's a relief.

Today we watched videos in swing dance class. The videos looked like they were going on fast forward, that's how fast the people were dancing....pretty sure I would fall on my face if I tried that...ridiculous!!

I took a 2 hour nap after Justin left for work, then got up and read my new VenusZine. I decided to wear my hot pink creepers when I went to Jimmy Johns for dinner...aren't they epic?!



Went for a drive with the windows down because it was so nice outside, then came back and read some more and danced around my room to some fun music...not a bad way to end the day!

How in the world?

So I'm totally stressed right now. Somebody stole my debit card information and has been using it to buy things at a Walmart in Ohio.....yeah, Ohio, where I've never been in my life. My account is blocked now thankfully, but I've yet to find out how much damage has been done. This sucks.

I worked 9-5 today and then had to drive 45 minutes to meet up with my mom so she could lend me some money, since I don't have access to my bank account right now. I'm so tired right now...I'm not moving from this couch for the rest of the night....except to go to bed.

Out with the old

Just went on a mass deleting spree on Facebook. Got rid of people I never talk to, ex-boyfriends, randoms from high school, etc. I'm down to 70-ish people now but whatever....quality over quantity any day.

I've been thinking a lot lately about how people have come in and out of my life. It's strange to think how I used to be so close to someone and now we never talk....or someone I just met within the past year who has become a great friend.

On one hand it's sad that most friendships don't go beyond certain stages of life, but maybe that's how it's supposed to be...different people for different times, with the select few that go from one stage to the next.

Or maybe I just haven't met that many people I've truly connected with yet. I always felt out of place in high school. College has been a little better, but I still feel like the odd one out most of the time. Idk, it'd just be nice to get past all the superficiality and crap and just have real conversations with people more often. I mean, I know people and they know me....but do we REALLY know each other, or do we know just fragments?

Anywho, this train of thought could probably go on awhile longer but I have 8am class and need to go to bed now!

SO! I've decided to start writing again!

I got two sweet new pairs of shoes over the weekend. Some black faux-croc heels and some neon pink creepers. Pics as soon as I get around to it, or I wear them :D

I somehow got myself addicted to that Life nature show on the Discovery channel. I watched it for like 4 hours straight yesterday. It was amazing how they showed the animals so close up and the time-lapse photography of the plants growing.

Today I had a critique for the makeup shelter I made for my 3D class. We didn't really talk about mine specifically, but I think I did pretty well regardless.

Only 2 more days until I go to the dermatologist to FINALLY find out what's been wrong with my hands for the past 4 months. I hope they'll be able to help me; it's really aggravating to have hands that are constantly broken out in a weird rash.

Just hangin out with the roomies now....it's kinda nice to sit around talking, since usually we're all off doing our own things.

Watching The Hangover with Stacie and Mason....I never get tired of this movie, I swear!

Nothing out of the ordinary today...class as usual...didn't have swing dance though, so I had a little more free time....woot woot!

I think maybe I'm gonna start writing on here only when something exciting happens or I have something to share.

Tim and Eric is the weirdest show ever

I can't even follow what they're talking about....balancing a pumpkin on their heads or something. And some guys in wigs pretending to be middle aged women. Okaaaaay....

I went to TJ Maxx today and got two new dresses. One is light pink with a crocheted top and the other is denim with buttons and overall straps...they're both so cute, I'm not sure which one to wear first. But when I do, there will be pictures!

Too tired to think of a witty title

I worked noon to close today and let me just say, it was busy. But I won't get into that, because the fun part of the weekend is now here. Aka the part where I sit around and don't do much of anything.

I got a tablecloth to embroider for my mom for Mother's Day. I haven't started on it yet, maybe I will tomorrow? I would now, but I'm afraid my sleepiness would cause me many accidental stabbings with the sewing needle, and nobody wants that...mainly me.

One of the blogs I read every day belongs to a woman named Miss Banshee and it says that her kitty Stewie died today :( I feel so bad for her...I don't even know her in real life and I almost cried when I read the news. RIP Stewie, I'll miss reading your little blog entries.

I guess the biggest deal of the day is that I FINALLY decorated my room how I've wanted to for awhile. I've been keeping pages of fashion/artsy stuff from magazines for who knows how long now....like 2 folders full. One is actual articles to read (and re-read as the mood strikes) and the other is clippings for collages or whatever.

Who's a slacker?!

Yeah, it's me. Sorry I went all MIA on here for awhile...got busy with school stuff, yet again. But now I'm back!

Today was an alright day. Got woken up at 3:45am by a thunderstorm....lots of thunder and rain was pelting against the windows. Finally fell back asleep til 7. Failed an art history test because I suck at memorizing slides...but what else is new. Got a new book to cheer myself up. It's called 1000 Artist Journal Pages and it's AMAZING! I could sit and stare at the pictures in it all day long and not get bored. It makes me feel more creative when I look at it too, which is always a plus if you ask me!

Erm, yeah...I don't really have much else to say....other than I'm getting tired and can hear the wind howling outside and it's kinda freaky. Yep that's all.

Drop it like it's hot (yeah, I went there)

Hmm yeah so I worked 1-close today and I'm sooooo tired. But oddly enough when I try to sleep I can't, so that means it's bloggin time.

Kaity and Justin came to visit me while I was at work. Kaity had a really pretty dress and hairbow on, and Justin was wearing an epic fake mustache. Ben saw him and was all like 'I saw your bf wearing a fake mustache!' It was funny...I like it when I get visitors at work.

Went to Happy Chef for pancakes with Kaity and Justin, and now I'm in my room, winding down for the night.

So I bet you're wondering what I did today? Or maybe not. Either way, this is how it all went down.

*Missed 9am symposium again and proceeded to have a panic attack about whether or not I'll fail 3D because of it. Then reality kicked in and I realized I was being stupid.

*Had lunch with Justin, and then we drove around looking for the social security office so he could take care of some paperwork for his new job. We finally found it and I sat in the car and read while I waited for him. On that note, Handmade Nation is a cool book if you're at all interested in the indie craft movement. Read it, or just look at the pictures :)

*Then I worked a 4-close shift at the Lob. Nothing out of the ordinary, which is alright by me, considering I close tomorrow night too.

My phone's buzzing, I better see who keeps texting me.

Ah, another night of lazing around the apartment :)

We had a fashion show in 3D today, with a catwalk and obnoxious music..it was stellar! I got to show off my freakin sweet stuffed animal pulley. Once I get my grade and the picture from the show back I'll post it. (the picture, I mean..I doubt anyone but me cares what grade I get lol.)

After German I went to the health center on campus. I have this weird rash on my arms and chest and I have no clue what's causing it. They put me on some medicine (which tastes horrible IMO). They said if it doesn't get better I either have to go to a dermatologist or an allergist. Fun fun....especially since I don't have health insurance at the moment...I'm turning in the paperwork to get it tomorrow.

Came home and read for awhile...then I played Hello Kitty on my DS. It's seriously the cutest game I've ever seen! She gets to travel around a city and do all kinds of fun stuff <3

What do you mean, it's a nice day?!

Some updates because I feel like I haven't been on here in FOR-EV-ER:

*Justin got the job at the Isle Casino! He starts in a little over a week.

*April is back from Florida...technically Stacie is too, but she's not in the apartment right now. They went to Sea World and Disney World...I'm jealous lol.

*Justin and I went to visit my mom on Thursday...we had awesome homemade pizza. I love my mommy's cooking :)

*I worked 10-5 today, and when I got off work the sun was still shining....it's spring you guys!

*My dad and brother are coming to visit tomorrow. I think we're going out for lunch, but I haven't decided where yet.

Ok gotta get back to watching Always Sunny...I can't miss the part about the 'Spin Doctors remix!'

Maybe it's time to take down the snowflakes in the window

I would have written last night, but I ended up getting a stomachache and didn't feel like doing anything except sleeping. I'm better today though!

So I'm just sitting on the couch, watching some reruns of Roseanne. Justin is getting ready for his job interview at the Isle Casino. I hope he gets the job!

Big plans for the rest of the day include:
*watching Jersey Shore reruns (laugh all you want, but it's so trashy it's fun!)
*start reading LA Candy
*clean out my car (it won't happen, but it makes me feel like it could if I write it on here)
*finish new issue of Nylon
*wish that I were somewhere warm and sunny

Spring Break!

I am officially on spring break now, and I already love it. Over a week to sit around and not do anything productive. Sounds like a winning idea to me, considering how much school work I've been doing lately!

So uh, I worked 1-close today and now I'm on here. I know you wish your day was that exciting. Tomorrow I might go shopping for some new spring clothes, depending on what level of laziness I reach.

I'm getting sleepy and it's only midnight. How pathetic. Ah well :)

Another fine day of class...art history, swing dance and German. Ho hum....we did finish the movie we've been watching in German though. It was called What to Do in Case of Fire and it was really interesting. Worth a watch if you understand some German, and even if you don't, it has English subtitles :P

After class I went to lunch at HuHot with Justin and his friends who were in town. They were pretty cool and we all ate way too much food.

Then I came home and was a bookworm...had to get my cheesy book fix in for the day...Sweet Valley University in case you wondered....and yes, it's as awful as you think it would be (in a great way!)

Time to zone out and watch some Robot Chicken...I don't have class until noon tomorrow and I'm looking forward to staying up late tonight and sleeping in!

Scranton WHAT, electric city!

Justin and I have been watching a lot of The Office lately and I'm hooked! I never really gave the show a chance when it first came out...I was convinced it would only be funny to people who worked in offices...lol dumb reasoning I know. Anywho, I was wrong and it is one of my favorite shows now...right up there with Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

I...hmm, what did I do today? Well, I got up far too early for art history, then came back and slept for 3 hours or so...I was so tired, I'm not sure why. Then I went to German and got lunch. Worked 4-close and came home to watch tv and work on my 3D project. It involves making stuffed animals into something that can be worn, but it can't be clothing. So I'm making a pulley-like contraption that will cause my arms to move up and down. It's not due till after spring break, but I'll try to remember to post a pic so everyone can see how ridiculous it ends up looking.
